WHAT MAKES A GOOD SCHNITZEL
With a traditional Wiener Schnitzel made from veal, it is not the number of ingredients but the many small decisions that make the difference. How thinly the meat is pounded, how the breading sits on the surface, the temperature at which it is fried and how lightly the crust eventually surrounds the schnitzel. These are exactly the details our kitchen at Petersplatz focuses on. Austrian potato salad, creamy cucumber salad and lingonberries accompany the schnitzel without taking away its leading role. Chicken schnitzel and our Schnitzel Duett show the same kitchen from a different perspective.
MORNINGS OPPOSITE ST. PETER’S CHURCH
Breakfast at Petersplatz has its own rhythm. The first tables are set, horse-drawn carriages pass St. Peter’s Church outside, and through the large windows you can look out onto a square that becomes considerably livelier just a few hours later. Breakfast, coffee and a selection for a relaxed start to the day complete the morning. In the outdoor seating area, you sit directly on Petersplatz, while upstairs you are slightly above it, with an entirely different view of Vienna’s historic centre.
A DRINK BETWEEN OLD AND NEW VIENNA
The bar is an integral part of the character of our restaurant at Petersplatz. While St. Peter’s Church, the horse-drawn carriages and Vienna’s historic city centre shape the scene outside, the atmosphere at the bar is deliberately modern and understated. This is where the evening begins with an aperitif, a spritzer or a cocktail, and where you might stay for another glass of wine after dinner. At Petersplatz, the contrast of the restaurant becomes particularly clear: outside is Vienna as it has been known for centuries, while inside is a contemporary place for food, coffee and drinks.
COFFEE WITH A VIEW OF PETERSPLATZ
Dom Café accompanies Petersplatz from the first breakfast of the day to coffee after dinner. At this location in particular, coffee is part of the atmosphere of the restaurant: in the morning by the window upstairs, later alongside Kaiserschmarrn or apple strudel, or outside on the terrace with a view of St. Peter’s Church. It marks its own part of the day, before breakfast slowly turns into lunch and Petersplatz once again becomes one of Vienna’s lively central squares.
KAISERSCHMARRN AT PETERSPLATZ
Kaiserschmarrn is one of those Viennese desserts that hardly needs an introduction. Freshly prepared, light and fluffy, with a gently caramelised finish, we serve it with warm plum compote. A warm and uncomplicated way to end a Wiener Schnitzel meal, or simply to enjoy on its own with a coffee at Dom Schnitzel Petersplatz.
A THOUGHTFUL SELECTION WITH FLAVOUR
Beyond schnitzel, our menu also includes a carefully selected range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. We remain true to our style: straightforward dishes, good ingredients and a kitchen that does not promise more than it puts on the plate. For individual preferences, intolerances or specific dietary requirements, our service team at Dom Schnitzel Petersplatz will be happy to assist personally and discreetly.
